Q. What is your favorite moment of being a musician?
A. My favorite moment of being a musician is working with composers and other performers to make something new--while I love playing some of the old standards, I am dedicated to bringing new works into the light of day.
Q. What do you think of your mission as a musician in the current society?
A. In all honesty, I'm still figuring that out. There is so much going on in this world, and at times, it can feel like what I do as a musician makes little impact on society at large. In some small way, though, I think that music does some good for our communities. If nothing else, our work can help to demonstrate the positive benefits of conscious, social action, directed towards a common goal (the performance).
Q. Please fill the blank: Music is __________.
A. a term laden with innumerable different meanings (and I'm still trying to figure out which ones I agree with most!)
